If your a person of color or an ally to our struggle, if you can't see with everything happening the need for political involvement to make changes you are aligned with those smiling in the picture.
If you listen to the those on the Left and Right they're speaking as if black people don't live in this country and often showing our lives and the lives of our supporters, don't matter. This violence in VA is not new, but with the ability of millions to connect via social media there is no reason for things to go backward, that's on us. A race war serves no place. It actually plays into the hands of the privileged who have supported hate for years and would love an excuse to extinguish the lives of those who want change.
We have to improve the infrastructure in our communities and our representation on local, state, and federal levels. We, as people of color, have to learn how to apply political and economic pressure to have our needs met or then, refuse to take part in things which serve no purpose to our agenda. If you don't know how to do so, learn, and learn today. There is no more excuse with the information access available to everyone.
Don't get all your info from FB (who silences people of color who have messages of change.) and search out those who can teach you. There is way too many Books, Blogs, YouTube, Live Streaming Platforms, and Podcast where people aren't silent like state and government controlled the news.
Stop having debates on Ghost situation on Power, and anything else on T.V. which is fantasy but then not balancing it with solid educational discussions on real change.
Save your marches and online rhetoric, go out and work with those who want to change the way things are in our communities. First, have an idea of what needs to change, so you know what to "demand."
Make your church get involved as well with teaching, learning, and healing. This is not a time for the church to be quiet either. Jesus faced and overcame death to make the change, so how can we of the church be quiet with what we are seeing.
