If you're a fan of poetry and this is not on your bookshelf you are missing a quality piece of reading. Word Play 2: The Foundation of Soul was the follow up to our first outstanding poetic anthology Word Play 1: Words are our Canvas.
Word Play 2 is an original piece of artwork.
It celebrates poetry in a way I felt would touch all those who read.
When I started thinking about the second book from Bravin Publishing's yearly Word Play series, I considered the positive feedback we got from the first book "Word Play, Words are our Canvas." It came to my spirit to talk about the Soul. I looked in the dictionary and found there are 10 different definitions of the word Soul. The light bulb went on. So I set out to create a poetry book which would tackle this word, which has come to mean so much to so many people. Hence the name of book two became "Word Play 2, The Foundation of Soul".
Tiff and I decided we were going to continue to offer publishing opportunities to those who were previously unsigned but with this book, we wanted more professionals. Poets who had their own projects which would stand toe to toe with the newbie's hunger.

The result was tremendous. The lineup for this book is one every reader will enjoy. We decided to take it one step farther. We figured if they are from different parts of the country the poets would have a different take on the subjects they were asked to write about. The call went out over the summer. Some poets never responded, and some outright said no. Which was OK. Well, thank the Lord the call was answered. The 13 who responded to my query came through and were a blessing. I must say next month on the 23rd when the world reads their poems they will be impressed.
We still believe readers are going to fall in love with poetry and each of the poets laying it down. They hail from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, and Minnesota respectfully.
In the book, we have poets who are authors and publishers of various art forms such as poetry, fiction, and non-fiction works. Plus we have a few who this was their first time out of the gate. I can say it was a smooth transition, working with all of them was terrific. When dealing with 13 professionals and personalities' one could be in for a long and bumpy ride. However, I've learned to trust my Holy Spirit as it guides my actions when it comes to dealing with people. It hasn't failed me yet.
Here are the "Subjects" they were asked to work with for the book. Each poet was asked to create an original piece, profanity free, and titled for the subjects given:
Poetic Subjects
The Almighty Light vs. Dark (The Good versus Evil Principal)
Self Reflection
Man / Woman / Child
Sex vs. Love
Money / Power / Respect
The Heart
Human Nature
Spirituality
Life / Death
Ethnic Pride, Customs or Language
The Essence of Song, Music or Poetry
Check out the video I created for the book. The song Word Play was created by Yehoshua Brown (Damion Brown) who is one of the poets in the book.
