I am Back. An Excerpt From My New Book Lukewarm Saint 2: Fox In The Hen House

An Excerpt From My New Book
Lukewarm Saint 2: Fox In The Hen House
KEITH K. L. BELVIN·SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2019

With everything going in my life, I have been slacking big time on my writing. Like most things when you fall behind it gets even harder to get back on track, like with exercising. Writing is no different. Well, I have dusted off my keyboard and I working on the long-awaited follow up to my book Lukewarm Saint.

Here is an excerpt from the new book Lukewarm Saint 2: Fox In The Hen House. Kevin Watkins is back and he has much more to deal with after everything which happened in book 1.

Feeling himself about to curse Kevin stops with his questioning. Looking at Pastor Ray for answers.

Hmmmmm That question huh? Pastor Ray says looking perplexed on how to answer Kevin's question. So he begins.
That is the mother of all questions when it comes to Christianity. Why does God take the good or great but not those doing evil? Pastor says. Standing to walk over to his desk to pick an old tattered bible he turns back to face Kevin.
You see Kevin it comes down to having unshakable faith in God having knowledge and control of all. Says Pastor Ray.
As he lifts the bible up to his chest to open it as he continues. You see Kevin. There are somethings Pastor, Priest, Saints, even the Pope can't answer. We can't tell you why God does what he does but we can tell you don't worry. God knows what he's doing and he wants the most for his children. Even the ones like you who made their lives all about what they wanted says Pastor Ray with a smile. He begins to pace back and forth and continues his explanation.
The Lord decided Richards time here was done and summoned him home. Only he knows why that night was the time for him to leave us.
Kevin sits back in the chair while inhaling deep and letting out a big sigh. Trying to fight back the tears as Pastor revisits his worst memory.

Pastor continues. As crazy as it may seem there will be good which comes from this. Some we will see first hand, the good God has sent and some we will never know about what God is working on. Only he understands why he makes the choices he does. But I can tell you they all work out in the end son.

At that moment Pastor Ray smiles at Kevin noticing he is trying hard to hold back the tears as he looks back but blinking repeatedly. With a comforting voice Pastor says, I'll share with you a verse your grandmother loves. I hear her all the time sharing it with the younger folks in church during bible study.
Hearing his grandmother mentioned, Kevin sits up with firm attention. She has always been his personal adviser and with her health not being the best lately he really wanted to hear what Pastor Ray was going to say. Pastor Ray opens a large beaten up bible and searches for the scripture he needs for this moment. After flipping through the pages he smiles and lets out a soft Amen.

You see Kevin, your grandmother, and many others, myself included have learned not to worry about the Lord and what he does. Since we know he doesn't explain but he'll always be there when you need him. Here is one of the many verses your grandmother shares with others.

Pastor Ray begins laughing thinking of Kevin's grandmother who loves to share her biblical knowledge with any who will listen. Here is the verse Kevin, its Matthew 6:25 - 34. Your Nana loves all of Matthew 6 but I'll share this with you.
Pastor Ray begins to read,
Matthew 6:25-34
Do Not Worry
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
You see Kevin, God tells us don't worry so we shouldn't. Look at all the great things you have done with your life and this church since that night.
